Kiwanis International was founded January 21, 1915 in Detroit Michigan, by Allen Simpson Browne ( a Moose lodge organizer) and Joseph G Prance ( a tailor). Kiwanis is an organization devoted to the principle of service; to the advancement of individual, community, and national welfare; and to the strengthening of international goodwill. Kiwanis membership spans the globe, with more than 300,000 members in more than 8,000 clubs in 82 countries, giving on average $70 Million and 6.5 million volunteer hours for community service each year.
Kiwanis is divided into Districts around the Globe. The Districts are then divided into Divisions. Each District has a District Governor to oversee the clubs in their respective Districts. The West Little Rock club is part of Division 21 of the MO-ARK District. Each Division has a Lt Governor who is responsible for the clubs in their Division. The clubs in Division 21 are the Kiwanis Clubs of: Beebe, Conway, Central Little Rock, Little Rock Downtown, Morrilton, North Little Rock, Pulaski Heights, Southwest Little Rock, Searcy, and West Little Rock.
The most important thing for all Kiwanians worldwide is the fact that to a Kiwanian CHILDREN ARE PRIORITY ONE.
